Quarantined Families in Nuwara Eliya Receive Dry Ration Packs

12th October 2020, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka: Today, 40 quarantined families received dry ration packages under the project titled Supporting Estate and Rural Communities in Nuwara Eliya District to Overcome the Implications of the COVID 19 Pandemic. The COVID-19 emergency project is implemented by UN-Habitat with the funding from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The packages were officially handed over to Mr M B R Pushpakumara, District Secretary/Government Agent, Nuwara Eliya District to be distributed among the families who are under quarantine in three (3) Divisional Secretariat Divisions, namely,  Kotmale (16), Hanguranketha (16) and Walapane (8).

The distribution was based on a special request made by the District Secretary/Government Agent, Nuwara Eliya District and took place at the District Secretariat in the presence of Mr P A Sarathchandra, Additional Government Agent, Ms Shalika Prasadini Lindakumbura, Assistant Government Agent, with the participation of UN-Habitat District Office staff.
