Video: Strengthening Socioeconomic Resilience of Communities
From 2022-2026, UN-Habitat partnered with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to support vulnerable communities in Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Implemented by UN-Habitat Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Government of Sri Lanka and Community Based Organizations, the project benefitted 106,000 people through health, agriculture and water and sanitation interventions.
This video focuses on key project achievements, including strengthened water supply and water quality systems through improvements to the Haddon Hill Water Purification Facility and community water supply schemes. It also highlights upgraded maternal and child health care centres, improved sewerage and healthcare waste management facilities, establishment of polytunnels and rain shelters for farmers, and home gardening support to households.
