Post-Conflict Reconstruction in Sri Lanka: Funded by the Government of Japan

From 2013 – 2017, UN-Habitat partnered with the Government of Japan and the Government of Sri Lanka to support conflict affected communities to rebuild infrastructure facilities in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

This video documentary highlights UN-Habitat’s participatory process of project implementation and the key project outputs of the programme including learning spaces, teachers’ quarters, preschools, community centres, internal access roads, storm water drainage systems and community storage facilities. The community assets constructed through this programme benefitted over 360,000 people in 250 villages in the districts of Batticaloa, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Mannar.
