The Habitat Country Programme Document (HCPD)
The Habitat Country Programme Document (HCPD) of Sri Lanka (2018 – 2022) aligns itself with the strategic areas of UN-Habitat and country-level priorities by establishing a clear linkage with the national development plans and the United Nations Sustainable Development Framework (UNSDF) 2018 – 2022 within the overall global context of the 2030 Development Agenda. In addition, the HCPD makes available a framework for engagement with national and local governments, as well as key stakeholders. HCPD primarily aims to articulate the key challenges in urban development in Sri Lanka while providing technical assistance to enhance urban strategies, policies, plans and their implementation; highlight the needs and priorities in the housing and land sector; promote service delivery and improve sustainable urban environments; and mobilise public, private, and non-governmental partners. A wide-ranging support from a variety of stakeholders is needed in achieving the development objectives.
